Today was the 5K run for Crohn’s and colitis research.
I did it! I completed the run without stopping or walking. The course was a little hilly, but it was do-able. The temperature was the tougher thing: the humidex was over 30 Celsius (almost 90 Farenheit for you Americans). I’ve never sweated so much in my life!
Since we arrived early and I was allowed to start the run any time, I decided to go early, figuring the weather would only get hotter as the day continued. Craig took a picture of me starting the run. I’m not running oddly; I’ve just come down from jumping up to touch the starting line banner to signify the beginning of my run.
He missed my finish! I had guessed the run would take me 40-45 minutes to complete, and when I reached the finish line (which was also the starting line – the course had a turnaround in the middle), the main group was just about to set off for their run, so I kind of got lost crossing the finish line. I also finished in about 35 minutes! I found Craig and struck a triumphant pose at the finish line, sports drink in hand.
Too bad about the glare from the sun, but you get the idea.

Congratulations Julia!
I spent the weekend in Ottawa and couldn’t believe the heat and humidity!

Julia FTW!!!
Does being as amazing as you mean that one has to trade sitting in front of the fan and being served cold drinks for running around in 30 degree temperatures? Guess I’ll have to pass…
Seriously though: congratulations! You’re awesome and I bow to greatness!

Wow, go you… I can’t handle humid weather at all! I’m glad in Colorado we don’t get much of it. It’s very arid here!
